The intention of undertaking the diploma in maritime studies programme with IMBM was to help increase my general knowledge of the shipping, logistics and maritime industry in preparation for my further education in University where I will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in maritime studies. The course has been greatly beneficial in understanding the importance of maritime trade and business fundamentals behind logistics handling and supply chain management. The course has allowed me to broaden my perspectives regarding the maritime industry as an industry that encompasses a wide variety of skills and know-how; not just about transporting boxes of goods but that there’s also much more legal, economic, political and social aspects to this industry. Overall, I’m glad to say that the course has been useful in value-adding knowledge to help me be familiarised with what I could expect from my degree programme with the university.
