MARITIME AND LOGISTICS IN 2020 AND BEYOND – SECTORS TO BE RECKONED WITH!

For the past 50 years, seaborne trade had grown from strength to strength and had been a remarkable development in the world. Shipping accounts for the vast majority of international trade and a very good case in point: Singapore’s trade development underwent a massive development and growth and propelled her position from a small fishing village to commanding a strategic position as a maritime hub in the regional and globe arena. The maritime industry is and will remain as a huge contributor to Singapore economy as it attracts 130,000 vessel calls on average a year while maritime industry contributes about 7% of Singapore’s Gross Domestic Profit (GDP) and to date has created over 170,000 jobs and more than 13,000 will be created in the maritime sector by 2025. Singapore had displayed great strength in ship management, ship brokering, ship chartering and ship bunkering.
